City of Richardson Hires Communications Director

The City of Richardson is pleased to announce the selection of a North Texas communicator to lead its enhanced communications efforts. Greg Sowell, City of Mesquite Communications Manager, has been appointed to serve as the City of Richardson’s first Director of Communications, effective February 15, 2010.

Neighborhoods Present Plan for Lookout Transfer Station.

On Monday, November 23, two neighborhood association presidents and a representative from a third presented their case against tentative plans for the rebuilding of the Lookout Transfer Station. The three neighborhoods presented a Power Point presentation with their objections and some partial solutions to the current plans.

Council Member runs Marathon for Charity, Mother, and Hospital

Richardson Council Member Amir Omar will run the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. this Sunday, October 25, 2009. His second effort in running this marathon will be different as he runs to benefit the Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation and in memory of his mother.

New Huffhines Recreation Center Opens

On October 17, the new Huffhines Recreation Center was opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house. The six million dollar project replaces the aging center built in the 1970s. New Bike Lanes open on Custer and Grove Roads.

Routh Creek Parkway Opens with Ribbon Cutting

The Proposed Drainage Fee – How the Blogosphere Got It Wrong

Recently, there has been a great deal of dust kicked up by bloggers and letter writers who are somehow horrified that the issue of a new drainage fee was discussed at the end of the final day of budget workshops last month. Phrases like “sleight of hand”, “shell game”, “collusion”, and “dishonorable behavior” have been bandied about. Bill McCalpin explains why he believes those accusations are unfair.
