Cooling Station open for those still without electricity

We currently have approximately 2800 citizens who are still without power on the heels of Wednesday's storms. Today, the heat index is going to be approximately 100 degrees. For this reason, the City has decided to open a Cooling Station at Heights Recreation Center (711 W. Arapaho Road 75080).

If you are without power, or know someone who is, please take advantage of this opportunity to get out of the heat.

The Cooling Station will be open from 1 p.m. today until 10 p.m. tonight and again tomorrow from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.

There will be a cool place for citizens to come in and sit as well as a bag or two of ice if they need it to take home to store medications or other necessary items.
As a reminder, city pools are open for their normal hours. And the library is open for their normal hours as well - free Internet access is available there.
