Eighteen months ago Gerard Ibarra and John Zurawski started BuildWave Technologies Inc., a company to help enterprise IT organizations identify, track, monitor and analyze data. Their work paid off when their company was purchased by iWave Software. iWave plans to incorporate Buildwave’s technology into iWave Automator, its enterprise-class IT process integration and automation platform.

This was not the first time Ibarra and Zurawski tried to form a startup.

"About ten years ago John and I tried something but our careers wouldn't allow it," Ibarra said.

This time they made it work and it paid off. Ibarra, who has a Ph.D from SMU and Zurawski who came from the hedge fund firm HBK took another go at it and this time they made it work. Ibarra, the former CEO and President for Buildwave, will stay on with iWave as Vice President of Product Marketing.

They targeted Richardson in their self-funded startup.

"We focused on Richardson because of the Telecom Corridor. There is a  lot of synergy there," Ibarra told The Echo, "The name 'Telecom Corridor' was important because it gave us better representation."
