American Idol contestant from Richardson is headed to Hollywood

In case you missed it, American Idol held auditions for its ninth season last week in Dallas. Amongst the contestants was a Richardson resident who was impressive enough to head to Los Angeles. What did everyone say about Maegan Wright?

Maegan Wright, 20 years old, belted out Bob Dylan's "Make you feel like love" and won herself a chance to go to Hollywood to duke it out with the rest of the would-be Idols.

Of course, bloggerdom that follows American Idol chimed in. I say "of course" because I had no idea there were bloggers following American Idol tryouts. Who knew? I am one of the approximately 24 and 1/2 persons in the United States that has never seen an episode of American Idol.

Anyway, Ms Wright got mostly good reviews.

The Wallstreet Journal blog "Speakeasy" said Wright "had one of the best song selections".Why is the Wallstreet Journal blogging about American Idol?

The Augusta Chronicle said, "Her rendition of To Make You Feel My Love was different, in a good way. Kara says she thought it was going to be a joke audition at first, but that's not the case. Girl can sing. She's one to watch" and listed her as one of the top contenders.

However, all was not positive and glowing. The Press Democrat from Sonoma County, California said, "Magen is off to Hollywood where it should be a brief visit."

Well, at least we can woop it up for her. If you know her, wish her luck.
