Home invasion suspect wanted; Assaults in Richardson, and six other cities

Police departments from around the metroplex have banded together to catch a suspect wanted for serial attacks in seven different cities. One attack was in Richardson and the Richardson Police Department is part of the task force attempting to apprehend the suspect.

According to Public Information Officer Lieutenant Mike Scott of the Richardson Police Department, two offenses took place in Richardson in 2005 that have been attributed to the suspect. Both were robberies and neither involved sexual assaults as has been reported in other cities.

The first occurred on May 27, 2005 in the 800 block of Renner Road. The suspect approached a woman in a vehicle and threatened her with a firearm. He then forced her to drive to an ATM and withdraw money, Lt. Scott said. The victim was not physically injured.

The second occurred on June 3, 2005 and involved a second suspect. In that offense, the two suspects forced their way into an apartment on the 500 block of East Buckingham. Victims were physically assaulted but not with weapons. Again, victims were forced to drive to an ATM to withdraw money.

Lt. Scott said the suspect should be considered dangerous. What should a Richardon resident do if he or she sees the suspect?

“Call the tip line or call us [Richardson Police],” Lt. Scott stated, “If you think you see him walking around, call 911.”

The sketch of the suspect was originally released by the Frisco Police Department. According to their press release:

HOME INVASION SUSPECT COMPOSITE RELEASE

TIP LINE ESTABLISHED

August 23, 2007 (Frisco Texas)

Metroplex Law Enforcement Agencies are asking for media and citizens assistance in identifying and apprehending a violent home invasion suspect.

Since May 2005, the Dallas metroplex area has been experiencing violent home invasions that appear to have been committed by the same individual. A Home Invasion Task Force was formed by area law enforcement agencies to investigate these offenses. These offenses include Robbery, Sexual Assault, and Homicide.

In April 2007, Frisco Police responded to a home invasion in our city. The investigation of this violent offense leads us to believe it was perpetrated by the same individual the Task Force has been trying to identify. Detectives from the Frisco Police Department then joined the Task Force. The Task Force is made up of Detectives from Dallas, Richardson, Irving, Garland, Plano, Coppell, and Frisco Police Departments, as well as state and federal agencies. There have been nineteen criminal offenses, with 20 victims, that we believe have been perpetrated by the same individual.

The suspect is described as a black male, 20 – 30 years old, 6’, and very muscular.

A Home Invasion Tip Line has been established and is being staffed starting at 3:00pm today. The Tip Line is being staffed by personnel from agencies involved in the Task Force. The Tip Line will be staffed by police personnel during anticipated peak hours and has message capabilities. Schepps Dairy has offered a $10,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of this violent individual.    XXX

THE TIP LINE NUMBER IS 972-941-2148
