What do you get when you mix a blunt-talking, famous efficiency-expert father and a brilliant, compassionate psychologist mother with twelve rambunctious offspring of various sizes? You get one of America 's all-time best- loved memoirs! The hilarious story of growing up Gilbreth has already delighted generations of readers -- and it remains as joyous and exuberant as ever. Laugh along with the adventures of the large, irrepressible family unit that redefined the term -- and proved the old adage, the more the merrier ... and scarier!
In Richardson Theatre Centre's production it is an all in the family affair, with many of the cast mates being related:
Libby Goldman who plays Mrs Fitzgerald the housekeeper, is working for the first time onstage with her daughter Bridgette Goldman who plays Anne the eldest daughter of the famous Gilbreth family. They have loved sharing the stage and being in a project that allows them to share their common love "Acting and each other". Often Mom stays at rehearsals longer just to watch her daughter bring something new to the role. Bridgette has a fan in her mom and vice-a-versa.
Ben Bathman (Frank Gilbreth), Josh Bathman (Fred Gilbreth) Blake Bathman (Jackie Gilbreth) are brothers in real life playing the same on stage. It isn't much different from home just more siblings on stage and a lot more noise. Mr. And Mrs Bathman are happy to have some nights free but are looking forward to seeing their sons star in this show. Talent is in abundance at the Bathman house.
Robin Liesenfelt (mom) and Miranda Liesenfelt (Lillian Gilbreth) are another Mother and Daughter team in the show who also play Mother and Daughter on stage. Miranda is ok sharing her Mom with the rest of the kids as long as she is the one and only she comes home with.
Rachael Lindley the director of this show has a family member in the show."Bam Bam the Wonder Dog" is her own pet. She claims he has always had the acting bug. He really has taken on his role as the family dog with enthusiasm and determination!!
Rachael said that she has never worked with such a group of talented children and young adults. Everyone is having fun and coming up with new ways for the Gilbreth children to be portrayed. I think each performance is so interesting and unique. Each child has really created a new interpretation of these children in this famous family. Family entertainment, lots of laughs, and a story that has touched millions "What more could you ask for?"
Come out and see your own neighborhood children from Richardson, Plano, Frisco, Parker,Garland and Dallas as they bring the Gilbreath family to life on stage in Cheaper By The Dozen at the Richardson Theatre Centre
