Many of you have read here and elsewhere about the November 23 City Council meeting where several neighborhood representatives presented their recommendations about the Lookout Transfer Station. Much of the effort put into their presentation was overshadowed by controversy about whether their presentation was finished, or whether their five minutes per person had expired. At the August 3, 2009 council worksession the city council received a report about Richardson's municipal golf cource, Sherril Park, and its performance. According to the report, Sherril Park is in excellent shape financially and is well run. This report came amid speculative criticism of the City of Richardson's contract with golf pro Ronnie Glanton who runs the course. On the tail end of the meeting was a discussion of current study of the west Spring Valley area redevelopment zone. What got more attention on Monday? I'll give you a hint: "Fore!"

In his blog, the Ed Cognoski takes issue with some of the accounting of a drainage fee. While doing so he attacks the concept of a redevelopment fund that would be used to spur redevelopment in problem areas while claiming he is not. Ed is wrong on both accounts. Ian McCann of the Dallas Morning News gives readers a good inside look but his comments need adjusting too.

In his blog, Dallas City Plan Commision member Michael Davis tells us about the area around Southwest Center Mall and its decline. When you strip away the geographic specifics, the issues he discusses (which in fact leads him to move his family out of the area) are issues repeated over and over in urban areas in the United States. Could his discussion and analysis actually fore shadow the fate of southern Richardson if we don't act?
