Neighborhoods Present Plan for Lookout Transfer Station.

On Monday, November 23, two neighborhood association presidents and a representative from a third presented their case against tentative plans for the rebuilding of the Lookout Transfer Station. The three neighborhoods presented a Power Point presentation with their objections and some partial solutions to the current plans.

New Huffhines Recreation Center Opens

On October 17, the new Huffhines Recreation Center was opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house. The six million dollar project replaces the aging center built in the 1970s. Hurricane Gustav evacuees to be housed in Richardson

As Hurricane Gustav approaches the Texas Gulf Coast, about 100 evacuees are expected to be brought to Richardson starting Sunday afternoon August 31. Shelter will be provided at the Huffines Recreation Center.

Lowe’s opens at former Richardson Square Mall site

On Thursday, June 26, Lowe’s Home Improvement held the grand opening of its new store on the site of the former Richardson Square Mall. The neighborhood and Richardson leaders welcomed the opening wholeheartedly. A single retail opening might not usually be a tremendous occasion but this one marked the final chapter of Richardson Square Mall moving into the dustbin of memory. It is not only the story of one retail location but it is also a microcosm of the entire saga of the indoor American shopping mall.
