Richardson 2023 Election Crunch Week

Early voting will begin for Richardson's Mayor and City Council in a week. As I mentioned in a previous post, I was starting to interview Mayor and City Council candidates face to face.

This post is a brief update.

What would you say you do here?

I have interviewed all eleven candidates for office in the City of Richardson. That includes the eight candidates for Mayor, the three contested Council seats, and the three unopposed candidates.

The results were eye-opening, and I learned much. The experience altered many of my assumptions about the candidates. The lessons I learned will be detailed in the coming week. Previously I wrote,

I make no guarantees that I will make an endorsement in any race. ... I have a set of fixed questions I ask, and many are not softball questions. I won’t go easy on them. Better that someone challenges them in a personal conversation so that if they learn something, then The Public is better off for it.

I will talk about some challenges for the new council, the importance of the election, and my impression of the candidates.
